ZAP Consulting Engineers geotechnics department is a leading group of highly qualified engineers who provides expert advice to a wide range of clients including consultants, contractors, government departments and agencies, private and public companies, legal practices and research organizations.

Our core business is to provide testing and monitoring services to the following disciplines:

  • Civil engineering and construction,
  • Environmental,
  • Geotechnical engineering,
  • Water resources engineering.

The main field activities for geotechnics services are as follows:

Geotechnical engineering:

  • The preliminary stages of projects including, limitation studies,‌ site selection for a variety of structures, environmental studies and recommendations for special  geotechnical and microzonation studies,
  • Preparing geotechnical reports based on the results of laboratory and field tests,
  • Evaluation of rocks characteristics including,  hydraulic properties, resistance and their deformation attributes,
  • Evaluation engineering properties of soils including, hydraulic properties, the failure strength characteristics of soils, soil resistance and bearing capacity of shallow and deep foundations,
  • Evaluation of soil wash out along the water, oil and gas transport routes,
  • Evaluation of subsidence and collapse in soils,
  • Preparing improvement plan for the land materials,
  • Investigation along the tunnels and underground spaces,
  • Evaluation of aggregates in construction applications,
  • Geotechnical study for the dams, tanks, roads and along the water, electricity, oil and gas transport routes,
  • Geological and engineering geological studies,
  • Study of rocks and soils in Engineers applications,
  • Earthquake hazard investigation,
  • Evaluation of soil liquefaction in dynamic loads related to transient shear waves,
  • Study of soil and rock slope stabilities in normal conditions and during the earthquakes,
  • Geochemical study of soil and water to determine the type of cement should be used in concrete,
  • Environmental geology study,
  • Zonation and microzonation study of geological hazards.

Drilling and field testing group

The main purpose these activities are identifying subsurface layers and sampling (disturbed and undisturbed) to test and determine the soil factors. Drilling and studying the subsurface layers, is running both by hand (test pit) and machine (borehole).

ZAP Consulting Engineers equipment, allows a variety of field tests:

Geotechnical laboratory

After transferring the samples from the field to the laboratory, Soil, rock and concrete laboratory of ZAP Consulting Engineers with having qualified personnel and equipped with a broad range of devices and laboratory equipment, is performing all the required tests based on the international standards and with high accuracy. All the data have been recorded on computers and will be analyses to use in related reports.
